General Characteristics : The Cumin seeds shall be the dried fruits of the plant Cuminum Cyminum L ; The seeds shall be free from visible mould, insect infestation, any harmful foreign matter and musty odour. The seeds shall be reasonably dry with moisture not exceeding 10%.
(!) Extraneous matter -- means dust, dirt, stones, chaff, stalks, stems or straw or any other impurity.

(*) Other seeds -- includes seeds other than that of Cumin.

(@) Damaged, discolored & weevil led seeds -- are those seeds that are internally damaged and discolored, materially affecting the quality & which are partially or wholly bored or eaten by weevil or other insects.

(#) Immature and shriveled seeds -- are those fruits which are not properly developed.
